The RLC Corps Open Day Returns

On 2 July 2022, following a 24-month hiatus thanks to COVID-19, The RLC Corps Open Day will return to Duke of Gloucester Barracks, South Cerney (nr Cirencester).

Hosted by 29 Regiment RLC, the day is intended to be a celebration of The RLC and to this end uniformed ‘on duty’ participation will be kept to a minimum. The event is open to all serving officers and soldiers (regular and reserve), RLC and Forming Corps veterans; as well as families, friends and the local population.

The event will open at 1200hrs with a festival of sport including variety of unit level sporting competitions and will see the return of the popular Tug of War competition.

Military stands will be kept to a minimum and will be capability led, showcasing a selection of The RLC’s wide and diverse career employment groups and The RLC’s specialist units to inform those serving in the Corps and members of the visiting public and veterans. There will also be civilian run trade, food and refreshments stalls.

Two Corps run messes will be on site at the 2022 event, one for Officers, WOs and Sgts and an OR’s bar (Cpls and Ptes).

There will be traditional area displays including the ever popular RLC Enduro team, RLC Equestrian display team, a Joint Helicopter Support Squadron Chinook display, a display by The RLC’s Silver Stars parachute display team and a military marching band display featuring The RLC Corps of Drums.

The day will be rounded off with a Party in the Park, which will have a later start than in recent years.

More information will be added to this post as it becomes available.
