LCpl Davey Timmins QGM a lasting memory

Following the generous and humbling gift of the medals of the late LCpl Davey Timmins QGM to the Corps in 2021, The RLC presented his parents, Cathy and Stephen Timmins, with a replica set of his medals and his Queen’s Gallantry Medal citation at a ceremony in Glasgow on 10th February 2022.

The presentation was made by on behalf of the Corps, by Colonel Commandant, Brigadier Chris Murray CBE and was hosted by 154 (Scottish) Regiment RLC at 221 Squadron’s ARC in Glasgow. Also present were representatives from 11 EOD & Search Regiment RLC, Glasgow and Lanarkshire ACF and 51 Brigade.

Davey Timmins QGM was a member of Glasgow and Lanarkshire ACF prior to joining the regular army and in his memory the Davey Timmins QGM Memorial Trophy, was commissioned by the RLC Association and presented by Brigadier Murray to Glasgow and Lanarkshire ACF during the event.

A connection has been made between LCpl Timmins’ former regiment, 11 EOD&S Regt, and the ACF Battalion to ensure someone from 11 Regt is present annually when the trophy is presented to the Battalion’s top Army Cadet.

221 Sqn RLC provides regular support to its local Glasgow and Lanarkshire ACF Detachment and the Commandant of Glasgow and Lanarkshire ACF, Colonel Derek Coulter has agreed that he would set in motion the process to re-badge the detachment to Royal Logistic Corps.
