The RASC AND RCT ASSOCIATION

The Association still retains 38 Regional and National Branches across the Country all of which hold regular informal social events and meetings as well as more formal lunches and dinners. Branches would warmly welcome new members, so if you want to rekindle the camaraderie, esprit de corps and ‘banter’ from your time whilst serving, do join a branch. Details are below.
The Association is governed by a Committee of Management, which manages the affairs of the Association and its Branches. It meets twice annually, normally at RHQ The RLC in Worthy Down, and is Chaired by the Association Chairman. The Association is divided into seven Regions, each consisting of a number of Branches (see below). Regional Chairmen sit on the Committee of Management, along with two Vice Chairmen, two Life Vice Patrons (both of whom have previously served as Association Secretary) and the Council Benevolence representative.

Full (Life) Membership of the Association is purely voluntary and open to those who have served in the RASC, the RCT, The RLC or the other forming Corps of the RLC. Those from The RLC and other Forming Corps will normally already be a member of their parent Association. Full (Life) members must be registered with the Association Headquarters. Applications must be on an Association membership form which includes a data consent declaration. Membership forms are also on the website and can be completed online. Full (Life) members are encouraged to be members of a branch, but it is not mandatory. Details of the Regions and Branches are listed below and can also be found on the Branch Locator Map (below). There is no fee for joining the Association. Branches may charge an annual subscription, as agreed at Branch AGMs.

The Association celebrates the Corps Weekend in Aldershot each year, on the nearest weekend to 15th July, in recognition of the date of the formation of the RCT in 1965. Our traditional activities include on the Saturday a band concert and dinner dance, on the Sunday a church service in the Church of St Michael & St George in Aldershot, which is followed by an Act of Remembrance at the RASC and RCT Memorial outside the Church and a joint lunch with the Officer’s Club, in Farnborough.
In November each year the Association remembers our fallen with a plot in the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey and by providing a contingent as part of the veterans’ march past at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. Our Branches also parade at local Acts of Remembrance up and down the country.
The Association publishes a newsletter, The Waggoner, twice a year. New members and those who live outside the United Kingdom postal zone will receive a digital copy. The Waggoner can also be read online.
Current Regions and Branches, as established and authorised by the Committee of Management are outlined below. These
include National Branches, which may either sit within a Region for administrative purposes, or sit outside of the Regional structure and report to/liaise directly with the Association Secretary.
