OUTSTANDING RLC CHEF WINS ARMED FORCES CATERER OF THE YEAR AWARD

SSgt Marc Wrangham of 3 PARA (3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment) has received the ‘Armed Forces Caterer of the Year Award’, winning the title for The RLC and the British Army for the first time since 2010.

The 2021 Public Sector Catering Awards took place on Thursday 9 September at the London Hilton Metropole. The Awards aim to identify military caterers who have made outstanding contributions through the delivery of catering services over the past year.

SSgt Wrangham was one of 20 RLC Chefs to be nominated for the ‘Armed Forces Caterer of the Year’ category; a tremendously fierce class in which the Army nominees must compete against several very accomplished entrants from across the Royal Navy and RAF.

The Award, which is not open to general entries, is passed to the command of each area of the Armed Forced for consideration and all nominees are judged against three criteria; Innovation, Leadership and Food Quality.

SSgt Wrangham was nominated by WO2 A Catling (RCWO 3 PARA), who describes the SSgt in his citation as ‘an exceptionally talented individual’.

He also commented: “SSgt Wrangham’s versatility as a soldier and a tradesman surpass every expectation. He is an exemplary role model and absolutely held in the highest regard. His nurturing leadership style instantaneously increases the effectiveness of any team and his passion and drive for his trade has a captivating effect on his colleagues. SSgt Wrangham is a standout individual; his physical and mental strength is matched with a will to succeed.”

WO1 (Conductor) Olly Rogers RLC, Command Food Services Warrant Officer (CFSWO) added: “SSgt Wrangham is an outstanding individual and a testament to the exceptional talent that we have in The RLC.”

Congratulations to all award winners at the event and to all of the extremely talented RLC Chefs who were nominated as part of this year’s celebration.
