9 Regiment crowned as football champs

9 Regiment has chalked up another sporting success having being crowned as this year’s Major Units Football Champions.

12 major units entered this year’s Festival of Football held in Grantham. After six games, 9 Regt won a place in the final against the favourite team, 7 Regt.

During a competitive game, 9 Regt came from behind to level the score with goals from Pte Malone and Pte Anderson taking the game into extra time.

After one minute of extra time, 9 Regt took the lead with a goal from Pte Phillips sealing the victory and winning the game.

A/LCPL Kwarteng and A/LCPL Kwame-Tanoh of 64 Squadron, 6 Regiment RLC, who have been attached to BATUK for the past four weeks, have paid a visit to the Hope & Home Orphanage in Nanyuki, Kenya where they made food donations to the Charity.

The two soldiers decided to raise funds from friends and family in the UK via Facebook, raising a total of £150 (KSH 22,000.00) which was used to purchase much needed supplies for the orphans.
