Today the Royal Logistic Corps held its annual open day for the public, local residents, veterans and serving members of the military in Deepcut, Camberley. The event was free and started at 9am ending with a Party in the Park evening concert!
The day included competitive sporting activities; rugby, football and or course an old favourite the tug of war.There was also equestrian displays, vintage military vehicles, performances by military bands and a funfair!
The day was a thank you to the local community for their continued support for the armed forces. RLC regiments and units manned stands to display there different capabilities, functions and equipment to the public.
The event was free to attend and a great day was had by both kids and adults ‘ with interactive activities and displays for everyone to enjoy.
This years event was also attended by sportsman, TV personality and ex-serviceman Kriss Akabusi! During his athletics career Kriss competed in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, and won Gold running the anchor leg in the 4 x 400m 1991 World Championships for Great Britain. He previously served in the Royal Corps of Signals and the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. Kriss will be presenting the annual RLC Sports Awards.
